MIGRANT CONNECTIONS FESTIVAL 2023
In 2023, we organised together with the South London Refugee Association the fifth annual Migrant Connections Festival at the Woodlawns Centre on Saturday 23 September. That year the festival was centred around solidarity and resistance.
We worked with the How to build power and make change through community organizing with Citizens UK, Migrant Organise, Creating Ground, Freedom From Torture and many more groups to bring you workshops, performances and holistic healing sessions.
Hightlights 2023
The most exciting part of the festival is how people just join in, supporting on the day and participating in the space. We had a person getting their piano from home for us as our keyboard broke down. This is what makes Migrant Connections festival to something special - it is a grassroots festival shaped in lots of ways by the people being part of it.

On the day we had:
+ 400 people coming
+ 45 organisations involved
+ 18 performances on stage
+ 1 open-mic session
+ 2 art exhibitions
+ 6 workshops
+ legal advice drop-in by JCWI
+ three fantastic kids' activities
